Shoes on Shoes: The Spring and Summer Roundup

With the temperatures slowly warming up over the past few weeks, I’ve been super eager to put away my heavy coats and sweaters and dust off my summer pieces. At the start of every new season, I take a look at my shoe selection and take note of what I’ll wear again from past years and what styles I’m lacking. In doing so earlier this week, I realized how desperate I am for a full spring shoe refresh - for work, nights out and everything in between. If you’re in the same boat and are in need of spring and summer shoe inspiration, read on to see my roundup of mules & heels, tennies, loafers & flats and sandals.

Mules & Heels

What I love so much about heeled mules is their versatility - it’s so easy to dress them up or down for any occasion. I also love how comfy the chunky heel is; I can comfortably wear them around the office or a night out without suffering from pinched toes or sore feet.

Tennis Shoes

Can you tell I love a pair of white tennis shoes? I absolutely love a pair of tennies with a casual dress, jeans, shorts - pretty much anything! Although I think neutral sneakers are an essential, it can be fun to mix in color and pattern here and there.

Loafers & Flats

For days when you just don’t feel like wearing heels, a loafer is the perfect substitute to keep your look chic and polished. I just love throwing on flats with a pair of pants and a button down for a quick and easy business casual outfit.

A summer staple, there are endless styles to take you from the beach to an evening out. It’s still a little early for sandals in MN, but here are a few of my current faves for this season.

Desert Destination: Vacation Outfit Ideas

Seeing as we’re finally at the tail end of the insanely long winter we’ve had here in the Midwest, I’m beyond relieved to have escaped the cold, snow, and slush for a few days. Not only was the temperature change refreshing, but I loved shopping for and styling outfits for 80-degree weather again. Although shorts and swimsuits are often the first thing I think of when traveling to AZ, the desert climate calls for jackets and long pants for cool mornings and evenings. Many times, I’ve found myself with goosebumps at dinner because I didn’t pack a cute jacket to toss on over my outfit. This time, I made sure to pack a [small] variety of layers as well as a plethora of shorts and tanks. Scroll to see my warm weather outfits and inspo for your next vacay.

Travel Day Outfit Ideas for Women

With an upcoming weekend getaway to Scottsdale, this week I’ve been outfit planning and packing for a long weekend away in the sun and travel days alike. While I have a variety of tanks, tees, shorts, swimsuits, and dresses packed for the trip, specific travel day outfits are also a necessity. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 1-hour flight or an 8-hour flight – wearing anything remotely uncomfortable is just not my jam. Tight jeans squeezing your waist and heeled booties that pinch your toes when you walk? No, thank you. While I wish I could say “comfort over everything,” and sport a full groutfit, you just never know who you’re going to run into at the airport. Or hey, if your future husband could be the one next to you on the plane ;) (Not this time, just a teenage girl fighting with her mom next to me on this flight – lol). Anyway, I’m all about that cute, effortless athleisure look – especially while traveling.

Wearing layers is probably the number one and most obvious travel day outfit rule. Nothing worse than sweating on a plane. Or the opposite – shivering under the little fans blowing right in your face. Depending on the destination, I usually always wear a t-shirt as my first layer, followed by a sweatshirt of some sort, and lastly a slightly heavier jacket. For pants, leggings or joggers are a safe bet – cute, casual, and comfy. For shoes, I’ve heard you’re supposed to wear your largest, heaviest pair to make more room in your suitcase – I completely ignore this rule due to two things: 1. running the risk of being too hot and uncomfortable is not worth it and 2. making sure the shoes match my outfit. So, I always go with sporty and cute sneaks. Lastly, add a fun bag and accessories to complete the look.

From Winter to Spring: Transitional Pants Roundup

As the winter months seem to drag on, I can’t be the only one who’s sick of my closet! With spring just around the corner, I’m getting excited to reintroduce my warm-weather wardrobe. Although it’s not quite time to whip out your stash of sundresses, the next couple of months are a tricky time for clothing - do you buy winter clothes or do you buy summer clothes? At this point, the trick is purchasing transitional pieces that will carry you from late winter into spring (and maybe even summer!). Pants being a clothing item you can sport all year long, I’ve rounded up a list of my current faves to help with a seamless adjustment to spring. What I’m loving right now for pants? Patterns, drawstrings, wide legged and tapered styles - scroll to see the list.
